Immature Stages of Heliodinidae

Detailed information on immature stages of Heliodinidae is being acquired.  However, Hollinger & Parks (1919) noted that Euclemensia bassettella Clemens, a common predator on Kermes galliformis Riley in Texas, have larvae that feed on large masses of eggs located beneath them.  Prior to pupation the mature larva cuts a circular or oval hole in the scale=s dorsum, and closes the opening with a silk mesh.  A single generation is produced each year, which corresponds to the host cycle.
